Burger King becomes first fast food chain to launch vegan ‘chicken’ nuggets in Notts
Burger King has become the first fast food chain to launch vegan nuggets in Notts.
The fast food chain said the new nuggets are now available in all their restaurants after ‘years of development’.
Made from soy and plant proteins only, they are made to taste and look exactly like their meat originals.
Burger King, KFC and McDonalds all now offer vegan burgers but nuggets, however, had yet to materialise until now, despite manufacturers such as Quorn long offering chicken substitutes made from textured fungus.
McDonald’s has sold vegan nuggets – made from potatoes, chickpeas and corn – in Norway, but has stopped there.
Burger King’s Soco Nunez said: “We are thrilled to be launching the new Vegan Nuggets to our UK restaurants. After years of development, it’s great to be able to say we are the first fast-food restaurant to bring such a product to our customers, which delivers the same tasting experience as its meat counterpart!”
Intruder ‘stripped naked and stole drinks’
A man has appeared in court after allegedly forcing his way into a house before stripping naked and stealing drinks.
Police were called to investigate two break-ins in Mansfield on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
The first incident took place at an address in Lord Street, shortly before 6.15am, when an intruder was reported to have smashed their way in through the back door before threatening the occupant with a shovel.
The second incident took place at an address in Carter Lane, Mansfield, at 12.15pm when a suspect is alleged to have barged their way in through the front door, refused to leave and stripped naked before making off with several tins of beer.
Police located the man soon afterwards in nearby Gordon Avenue where a quantity of drugs and a sharpened wooden pole were also recovered.
Nico Wallace, aged 31, has been charged with two counts of burglary, common assault, possession of an offensive weapon and two counts of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply. He was also charged with breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with notifications requirements for the sex offenders’ register.
Wallace, of no fixed abode, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on January 27.

Bye, bye Blackberry
Blackberry smartphone users in Notts will sadly no longer be able to call, text or use Wi-Fi after it was announced yesterday that the once-iconic mobile has been discontinued.
The handset, which was one of the most popular brands when smartphones became widely available in the late 2000s, was officially axed yesterday (January 4).
At its pomp, BlackBerry owned a reported 20% of the global smartphone market and sold 50 million devices a year. As of today, it owns none, and no new phones have been made since 2016.
BlackBerry's decline has been a long time coming, with its initially popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service shut down in 2019, 14 years after launching. The arrival of the iPhone and Android smartphones gradually dented BlackBerry's popularity. Many users started using WhatsApp and other messaging platforms that were not stuck to BlackBerry.
